Description
Nos. 18 to 20 Grosvenor Place are terraced townhouses that were remodeled around 1855, likely by Thomas Cundy II, from earlier 19th-century houses. The buildings are finished in stucco and topped with slate roofs, showcasing an Italianate style. They rise five storeys above a basement. Nos. 18 and 20 have three-window wide fronts, while No. 19 features a four-window wide front. The entrances are positioned to the right and left, with a Doric portico-porch and archivolt arched doorways in the second bay from the left for No. 19. The windows are recessed plate glass sashes, with the first-floor windows set in Ionic columned pedimented aedicules and corniced windows on the upper floors. A large crowning cornice is adorned with attic windows situated between console brackets. The first-floor aediculed windows have balustraded stucco balconettes on console brackets, while the second-floor windows feature simpler stucco balconettes. The properties are enclosed by cast iron area railings.
