Description
These are a pair of mid-19th century terraced houses located on the south side of Queens Gardens in the City of Westminster. They are built of stucco, with rusticated quoins on the end houses. The buildings are designed as a balanced terrace. They have four storeys, an attic, and a basement, and each house is two windows wide, except for the end houses which have a single tripartite window to the first and second floors. The ground floor is treated with channelling. A projecting Ionic porch provides access, with panelled doors. There is a cast iron bombé balcony to the first floor. The windows have square heads, architraves above the ground floor, pediments to the first floor, and cornices to the second floor. The other houses have Corinthian and Composite orders to the first and second floors. A foliated band runs above the second floor. A console cornice sits above the third floor, with a smaller subsidiary cornice to the attic. Cast iron area railings are present. The houses are an integral part of the original Queen’s Gardens layout.
