Description

A row of terraced houses at numbers 117 to 125, George Street, Westminster, was built around 1811 to 1820 as part of the Bryanston Square development for the Portman Estate, and is associated with J.T. Parkinson. The houses are constructed of brown brick with concealed slate roofs and extend over four storeys and include basements. Each house front is two windows wide. Each doorway has a semicircular arch leading to a lift, with panelled doors set within pilastered jambs and topped by patterned fanlights. The windows are recessed sash windows, some with glazing bars, and are set under flat, gauged arches. The fronts are finished with a coped parapet. Elaborate cast iron balconies with Gothic and geometric patterns are located on the first floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials complete the exterior.
