Description

A terrace of four houses built around 1840. The houses are of stucco construction with slate mansard roofs. They are three storeys high, with an attic or mansard storey and a basement. Each house has a facade of three windows, exhibiting a balanced design. The central house is recessed and features an Ionic colonnade on the ground floor. The two inner bays of the outer houses project forward. Advanced Ionic porches are positioned in the recessed outer bays. The ground floor of the outer houses is characterised by channelling. The windows are square-headed, with architraves above the ground floor and cornices to the first floor, and contain sash windows with glazing bars. Cast iron balconies are present on the first floor, and a cast iron balcony is also on the ground floor of the central house. A cornice runs above the second floor. The central house has a mansard attic; the outer houses have a full attic storey with a subsidiary cornice.
