Description

This is a grand terrace of houses located on the south side of Queen's Gardens in the City of Westminster. The houses, numbered 34 to 65, were built between 1852 and 1857, and are constructed of stucco. Each house has two windows, with four storeys, an attic, and a basement. The ground floor is rusticated. Projecting Ionic porches provide access. The entrances feature panelled doors. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor. Windows are square-headed, with the first-floor windows flanked by fluted Corinthian half columns and pediments. Cornices and individual balustraded balconies are present on the second and third floors. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, with French casements on the first floor. A rich dentil cornice sits above the third floor, with a subsidiary cornice to the attic, although the attic cornice has been partly removed. Cast iron area railings are present. The return on the right side is also visible. The terrace forms an integral part of the wider Queen's Gardens layout.
