Description

A row of three terraced town houses on the north side of Bryanston Square, dating from 1811 and designed by Joseph Parkinson for the Portman Estate. The houses are built of brown brick with banded stucco rustication to the ground floor, and have concealed slate roofs. They are five storeys high, with a basement, and each front is three windows wide. No. 26 has a full-height canted bay window. The doorways are semicircular arched, with panelled doors and fanlights. The upper floors contain recessed sash windows, some with glazing bars, each set within a flat, gauged red brick arch. Horizontal plat bands are positioned above the ground floors with a crowning stucco cornice and blocking course at the top. No. 25 features a dentilled entablature over the third floor and a five-bay return with a geometric patterned cast iron balcony to the first floor. The front is defined by cast iron area railings with urn finials.
