Description

A terrace of eight large houses located on Porchester Square, dating to approximately 1850. The buildings are constructed of stucco, with the roof largely obscured. The design exhibits balanced proportions, with the end pairs slightly set forward and featuring rusticated quoins. The houses extend over four storeys, with an attic and basement level. Each house has a width of two windows. The ground floor is characterised by deep channelling, while projecting Doric porches and a triglyph frieze run across the entire width of the terrace. A continuous bombé balcony is positioned on the first floor. The windows are sash windows with plate glass. The ground floor window architraves are corniced, and the first-floor windows are embellished with lion head roundels and swags. The outer pairs of houses have round-headed windows on the third floor. A dentil cornice sits above the third floor, with a subsidiary cornice leading to the attic.
