Description

A pair of terraced houses at numbers 6 and 6A, Ivor Place, London NW1, were likely built around 1815 to 1820 as part of the Portman Estate development, associated with the nearby Gloucester Place. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a slate roof and extend over three storeys and a basement. Number 6 has an altered shop front, with a surviving pilastered doorway and part of the fascia. Number 6A features a semicircular arched doorway to the left, containing a panelled door set within pilaster jambs, a cornice head, and a fanlight. The upper floors have recessed sash windows with glazing bars, set within flat, gauged red brick arches. The houses are topped with parapets featuring stone copings, and have cast iron spearhead area railings. The buildings are included on the heritage list solely for their group value.
