Description
Nos 34-38 on Mortimer Street are commercial premises built in 1915. The building features a white faience exterior with turquoise glazed brick, designed in a free classical style. It stands five storeys tall and has three main bays. The ground floor includes canted bay windows that are separated by Ionic 'Jacobean' pilaster strips, topped by a dentil cornice. The first floor showcases continuous arcaded round-headed windows, with semi-Gothic Corinthian columns between them. The outer bays on the second and third floors have round-headed architraved windows. A central two-storey bay window extends through the second and third floors, featuring mullions and transoms with two and three lights, and a continuous Doric loggia at the fourth floor level. Above the third floor, there is a modillion cornice and a decorative frieze, along with a subsidiary cornice for the loggia, which is adorned with an iron balustrade.
