Description
The staircase, doorway, and gateway at Little Dean's Yard provide access to the Busby Library and the south end of the Dormitory range on the first floor. The stone gateway was built in 1734, while the staircase and upper doorway date from 1664 to 1669. The gateway features a semicircular arch made of rusticated masonry, with moulded imposts, a cornice, and an overall pediment. The Royal Coat of Arms is displayed in the tympanum. The staircase consists of a straight flight flanked by parapets adorned with strapwork scrolls. The doorway is archivolt arched, with a block keystone, and is flanked by Ionic pilasters that support a cornice and blocking course.
