Description
No. 63 Old Compton Street is a terrace house with a shop, built around 1732, with 19th and 20th century alterations. It is constructed of stock brick, likely with a late 18th or early 19th century refacing, and has a concealed roof.
The building stands four storeys tall and is three windows wide. The ground floor features a later 20th century shop front, while the upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes set in stuccoed reveals beneath cambered gauged arches. The parapet is topped with coping.
Inside, original features include a passage-hall with intact panelling on the inner side and an archway leading to a dog leg closed string staircase, which has turned balusters that are boxed in. The first floor landing is completely panelled with a dado rail and a box cornice.
