Description

No. 11 Tavistock Street is a corner terrace house with a shop, built around 1752 and featuring early 19th century and later alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with a dormered mansard roof. The façade is three windows wide, with a four-window return to Wellington Street that includes one blind bay. The early 20th century shop front is iron framed in a neo-Georgian style and is set beneath an entablature-fascia. The upper floors feature recessed 19th century plate glass sash windows, which are set under flat gauged arches. There is a painted stone sill band on the first floor and a cornice band over the second floor, with a parapet that has coping. The basement corresponds to No. 28 Wellington Street, the ground floor to No. 3 Tavistock Street, the first floor to No. 5, the second floor to No. 7, the third floor to No. 9, and the fourth floor to No. 11.
