Description

Nos. 12 to 16 Abercorn Place form a terrace of houses dating to around 1840, and which have undergone alterations since. The houses are constructed of stucco, with slate mansard roofs. They extend to three storeys, with an attic or mansard, and a basement. Each house has a width of three windows. The design presents a balanced composition, with No. 14 recessed and featuring an Ionic colonnade to the ground floor. The outer bays now have flush Ionic porches. The ground floors of the outer houses display channelling. The windows are square-headed, with architraves above the ground floor and cornices above the first floor. They are sash windows, with largely intact glazing bars. Cast iron balconies are present on the first floor, and also on the ground floor of the recessed central house. A simplified cornice sits above the second floor. Attic mansards top the terrace.
