Description
This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses located on the south side of Formosa Street, City of Westminster. The terrace comprises numbers 2 to 18 (even). The building is constructed of brick, rendered with stucco, and has a Welsh slate roof. It is three storeys high, with each house originally featuring two bays. The shop fronts have been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. Numbers 10 to 14 have a decorative cornice with dentils and modillions to the fascias. The sash windows are generally set within architraves, and those on the first floor have cornices supported by consoles. The returns to Warrington Crescent and Castellain Road show a monumental composition in stucco, including a plinth, paired composite pilasters supporting an entablature, and a round arch with a volute keystone on the pilasters. No. 14 was undergoing renovation at the time of the resurvey.
