Description

This is a late Georgian and early Victorian terrace of houses located on the north side of Hyde Park Square. The building dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of brick, with a stucco finish. It rises to four storeys, with a basement and attic in the central range and the outer bays.

The terrace presents a symmetrical composition, featuring a central six-bay breakfront articulated above the ground floor by a giant Composite order. Further three-bay breakforwards are set on either side, which are flanked by wings, the last four bays of which project slightly. Doric porches project from the front, each containing double doors with overlights. The windows are largely tripartite sashes. A balustraded balcony is present on the first floor. Some casement windows are visible, some with pediments. Above, the sashes are mostly fitted with glazing bars. A broken dentil cornice runs along the top of the building. Iron railings enclose the basement level. The return wall of number 21 features a full-height, three-window bow.
