Description
Nos. 25 to 27 Carnaby Street is a block of terrace houses with shops, built around 1820. The structure is made of stock brick and has a slate roof, rising to four storeys. Each house in the block features two windows on the front. The corners of the block are slightly rounded and recessed. The ground floor shop fronts have been altered in the 20th century, but No. 26 retains its original wooden frame with large paned windows and a projecting cornice. It also has a square-headed doorway with pilaster jambs and a fanlight, while the other two shops show remnants of their original fascias. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes set beneath flat, gauged red brick arches, and the building is topped with a parapet that has coping. This block is part of the redevelopment of Carnaby Street and Newburgh Street from around 1820.
