Corner house and office. c1860 by R P Pullan. Stock brick with stucco and red brick dressings, slate roof. Italian medieval details in High Victorian manner. 4 storeys and basement. 3 major bays to both fronts. Stucco ground floor with a heavy gabled porch on shafts with lush foliage capitals, off centre right. Varied fenestration with segmental arched recessed sashes to ground floor, and on the upper floors semi- circular arched windows with bright red brick dressings, 3 on 1st floor, 6 on 2nd floor (close set as if arcaded) and 3 pairs to 3rd floor, all framed by pilasters with foliate caps and those on 2nd floor with bracketed projecting sills. Band courses between storeys and polychrome tile frieze between the brackets of projecting eaves cornice. Identical features to John Adam Street. No 22 was used by William surges, Pullan's brother in law, as his office.
