Description
A pair of terrace houses located in the City of Westminster, dating to circa 1676, with later alterations. Number 6 has been stuccoed while the ground floor of number 7 has been stuccoed, with the remainder of the facade being red brick (refaced). Both buildings have slate roofs. They are three storeys high with dormered mansards, and include basements. Each building has three windows wide.
Number 6 features a doorway on the left side with a wooden doorcase, which includes a pulvinated frieze and cornice resting on consoles. It has flush-framed sash windows, plat bands separating the storeys, and a parapet with coping. Number 7 is similar, with comparable fenestration and a doorway on the left with a wooden doorcase and cornice on consoles. Wrought iron area railings are present.
Inside number 6, the upper flights of the original dog leg staircase remain, featuring a closed string, turned balusters, and the original chimneypieces to the second-floor rooms can still be seen. Number 7 retains its staircase, which has cut carved bracket strings and turned balusters, transitioning to a closed string above the first-floor landing. The interior also includes stone-panelled chimneypieces with keyed centres beneath a cornice shelf.
