Description
No. 20 Buckingham Street is a terrace house built around 1675, with alterations and heightening from the late 18th to early 19th century. The building features brown brick with red brick dressings and a stuccoed ground floor. It has four storeys and a basement, with a three-window-wide facade. To the right, there is a semicircular arched doorway dating from around 1800, which has pilaster jambs and a patterned radial fanlight. The recessed sash windows are set under flat gauged arches. There are plat bands between the storeys, with the first-floor band made of stone and the others in brick. The building has a parapet with coping and cast iron area railings topped with urn finials. Inside, the first floor and hall retain original panelling, featuring an arched opening to the openwell, a cut string staircase with square balusters, and a closet wing.
