Description

This is a classical office building located in Bell Yard, Westminster, dated 1854. It is four storeys high and three bays wide, constructed of stucco. The front elevation is designed with superimposed orders of pilasters, each featuring a full entablature. The ground floor has rusticated quoins, and the bays between the windows are defined by Doric pilasters. The first floor utilizes Ionic pilasters while the second floor incorporates modified Corinthian pilasters, grouped at the corners. First-floor windows have architrave surrounds, with those windows being pedimented. The third floor is treated as an attic, topped by a balustrade and a central, pedimented cartouche containing the date. A simple entrance door has a cornice above it. A return elevation is constructed of glazed brick, incorporating moulded panels designed as blind window bays. A portion of the building is situated within the City of London.
