Description

This is an office building dating from the 1830s. It is constructed of stucco and is L-shaped, comprising 16 bays arranged in three storeys and a basement. The western 11 bays form a symmetrical facade around a central three-bay section topped with a pediment. The ground floor has channelled rustication, with sill bands and a cornice above. The windows are tripartite sashes with all original glazing bars. Windows on either side of the central bays have consoled cornices and are flanked by pilastered Doric door cases. Above the first-floor windows in the centre of the building are the words "BARNED'S BUILDINGS" in large, plain capitals.
