Description

Number 5 (eastern part only), 7 and 9 is an office building dating from the 1830s. It is constructed of stone with a tiled roof and stands three storeys high, with a basement and attic, featuring ten bays, the end two bays curving back. The building has sill bands and a cornice. The doorway, which is offset to the left of centre, has a heavy Grecian hood supported by consoles. The bays on either side of the doorway have tripartite windows on each floor, with iron mullions on the ground floor windows, all of which have chamfered surrounds. The upper windows are all sashed, some of which include glazing bars, while the attic windows are later additions. The left quadrant of the building was rebuilt in the 1880s, featuring tripartite windows on both floors, with a frieze inscribed "QUEEN AVENUE" between them. The 20th-century basement has been rendered, and there are ornamented lamp brackets with later fittings.
