Description
Nos. 1 to 8 Goodwin's Court is a row of houses with shops located in a pedestrian court, dating from the late 18th century. The shops are original to the design. The buildings are constructed of brown brick with concealed roofs and consist of three storeys above a basement, with two windows on each floor. The ground floors feature original wooden shop fronts, which include a panelled and glazed shop door to the left of bowed display windows, mostly fitted with glazing bars. These are framed by panelled pilaster strips and an entablature, with the bows cantilevered on brackets. No. 1 has an original window and doorway on the west return. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sash windows set under flat gauged arches. The row is topped with a parapet that has coping, and there are wall-mounted bracketed mid-19th century gas lamps.
