Description
No. 18 Hertford Street is a terraced town house built around 1768-1770 as part of the development of the south side of Hertford Street by the elder Henry Holland, his son, and in partnership with John Eldridge. The building has four storeys and a basement, and it is three windows wide. The entrance is located to the left and features a well-crafted wooden doorcase with engaged Ionic columns, an enriched frieze, and a dentil cornice, along with small sidelights on either side. The windows are recessed sash windows, some of which still have glazing bars, and are set beneath flat red brick arches. There is a stone sill band on the first floor and a parapet with coping at the top. The property is also adorned with wrought iron area railings that include an overthrow lampholder.
