Description

The Hertford Club is a terraced town house dating from approximately 1766 to 1770. It was constructed as part of the development of the south side of Hertford Street by Henry Holland the elder, his son, and in partnership with John Eldridge. The building was altered in the early 19th century. It is stuccoed with a slate roof and stands four storeys high with a dormered mansard, set above a basement. It has a three-window front. The ground floor is channelled and features a Doric columned porch on the right side. The windows are recessed sash windows without glazing bars, set within moulded architraves; those on the first floor have entablatures and a pediment over the central window. A cornice sits above the second floor, surmounted by a parapet with coping. Cast iron area railings are present.
