Description
This is a mid-19th century terrace of houses located on Chepstow Road in Westminster. The terrace comprises numbers 7 to 53 (odd). It is constructed of stucco, with the roof concealed. The building presents a balanced design, with three storeys and a basement. Each house has a two-window frontage. The central four houses project slightly, featuring fluted Corinthian columns that rise through the first and second floors; the capitals have been removed from the left-hand pair. The end pairs also project with giant pilasters extending to the corners and between the houses on the first and second floors. The ground floor has channelling. The houses have square-headed entrances and windows, with panelled doors and architraves to the first and second-floor windows. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. A cast-iron balcony with a tented canopy supported by an elaborate iron trellis remains at numbers 35 to 49. A cornice sits above the second floor. The building is included on the list primarily for its group value.
