Description
Elliots is a late 19th-century commercial building located on the north side of Westbourne Grove in the City of Westminster. The structure is made of grey brick with stone dressings and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and occupies a corner site, presenting three bays to Chepstow Road and two to Westbourne Grove.
The ground floor includes a shopfront that is set proud of the facade and showcases Art Nouveau details. This shopfront features slender standards with plate glass panels between them, curving around the corner and leading to sunken entrances. The upper storey is highlighted by a polygonal corner turret topped with a copper dome and spirelet. The facade is adorned with giant Ionic pilasters, and some windows are arched on the first floor while others are mullioned on the second. There is a two-storey canted bay facing Chepstow Road, complete with a gable above it, and a parapet. The mansard roof includes pedimented sashed dormers. The building is noted for its well-preserved shopfront.
