Description
These are a pair of terraced houses at numbers 8 and 10 Wyndham Street, built around 1790 to 1800 as part of the Portman Estate development. The houses are three storeys high with dormered mansards, except for number 8, which has a full attic storey, and all sit on basements. Number 8 has a stuccoed ground floor, while the rest of the front is stock brick. They have slate roofs. Each house has a two-window front. Semicircular arched doorways are on the left side, featuring patterned impost blocks, panelled doors, and radial fanlights above. The windows are recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars, set within flat gauged red brick arches and red brick reveals. A continuous stucco plat band runs along the first floor. The tops of the frontages are finished with parapets that have stone copings. Bowed wrought iron balconettes are positioned outside the first-floor windows. Cast iron area railings with urn finials are present at ground level. The houses are listed for their group value.
