Description
No 67 is a terrace house located on Brook Street, built between 1722 and 1723, with alterations made by P C Hardwick in 1851-52. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick and stands four storeys tall, including a basement, topped with a slated mansard roof featuring dormers. It has four windows across its front. The ground floor includes an enclosed porch with Doric columns on the right and a balustraded parapet above. There are plat and sill bands at the first floor level, along with a moulded main cornice and parapet. All the windows are sashes set within plain moulded stucco surrounds, lacking glazing bars, and the third floor features mid-19th century iron flower guards. The area is enclosed by cast iron railings topped with pineapple finials. Inside, the house retains its original front compartment staircase, which is made of timber with an open cut string and barley sugar balusters. The second floor rooms are adorned with simple early 18th century panelling.
