Description

Nos. 7 and 9 Mansfield Mews are stable-coach houses built around 1773, with alterations to the mews front. They are associated with the nearby properties at Nos. 11 and 13 Mansfield Street, designed by Robert and James Adam. The buildings are constructed of stuccoed brick and have slate roofs. The east fronts are designed to be visually appealing in relation to the rear of the Mansfield Street houses. They are two storeys tall with a basement and feature three windows across the front. The east fronts have recessed square-headed sash windows, with intact glazing bars at No. 9 and architrave surrounds at No. 7 on the ground floor. The first floor displays alternating panels and oval medallions that contain swags and classical figures. The buildings are topped with a crowning entablature that has a swag frieze and a blocking course.
