Description

TQ 2881 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER HARLEY STREET, Wl 45/92 (East side) No. 46 G.V. II Terraced town house. 1909 by Banister Fletcher. Portland stone faced; slate roof. Free Georgian Revival style. 4 storeys and basement. 3 windows wide, but with 3-windowed canted bay through ground to 2nd floor to centre left. Segmental arched, keystoned doorway to right (the 1st floor balcony acting as hood). Ground floor recessed sashes of canted bay have roll-moulded surrounds; 1st and 2nd floor windows in eared architraves; keystoned windows to 3rd floor. 1st floor continuous stone balcony on putti-masked brackets with bombe cast iron balustrade; panels over 1st floor windows and below those on 2nd floor with cornice-hood between; cornice finishes off canted bay with coppered roof: 3rd floor has sill course and is framed by concave architrave moulding carried down party wall line; bold crowning cornice and balustraded parapet. Ornamental cast iron area railings.
