Description

No. 46 Harley Street is a terraced town house built in 1909 by Banister Fletcher, designed in a Free Georgian Revival style. The building is faced with Portland stone and has a slate roof, standing four storeys tall with a basement. It features three windows across the front, with a three-windowed canted bay extending from the ground to the second floor on the left side.

To the right, there is a segmental arched doorway with a keystone, and the first-floor balcony acts as a hood over this entrance. The ground floor has recessed sash windows in the canted bay, which are framed by roll-moulded surrounds. The first and second floor windows are set within eared architraves, while the third floor windows have keystones.

A continuous stone balcony on putti-masked brackets with a bombe cast iron balustrade is located on the first floor. There are decorative panels above the first-floor windows and below those on the second floor, with a cornice-hood between them. The canted bay is topped with a cornice and a coppered roof. The third floor features a sill course and is framed by concave architrave moulding that extends down the party wall line. The building is capped with a bold crowning cornice and a balustraded parapet, and ornamental cast iron railings are present in the area.
