Description

Number 3 and the garden screen colonnade is a house built in 1914 by A.F. Faulkner. It features a Portland stone facade and a slate roof, designed as an urban "villa" with Free Dixhuitième characteristics. The building has two storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard roof. The central section is three windows wide and includes two-storey canted bay windows on either side, leading to styled parapeted attic wings.

The entrance is an off-centre semicircular arched porch, recessed in the channelled ground floor, with a central tripartite architraved window featuring glazing bar casements. On the first floor, there is a prominent central window framed by Ionic columns. The canted bays have concave returns and also feature glazing bar casements. There are three dormers, with the central one adorned with a shell hood.

Above the first floor, between the wings, there is a balustraded parapet, along with a dentil cornice and a solid parapet. The stepped corniced parapeted attics of the wings are decorated with wreathed and swagged ornament. The south garden front mirrors the bay window design, and the garden is screened from the street by an Ionic colonnade and balustrade that connects Number 3 with the rear of Number 8 Queen Anne Street.
