Description
No. 44 Harley Street is a corner terraced house built in 1907 by Boehmer and Gibbs. It features a Portland stone facade and a slate roof, showcasing a Free Style Queen Anne-Georgian Revival design. The building has four storeys, a basement, and a dormered mansard roof. It is three windows wide, with a three-window segmental bow extending from the ground to the second floor on the center-right side.
The entrance on the left is semicircular arched, adorned with a foliated surround and a keystone, and is sheltered by a hood supported on consoles. The hood moulding extends over the segmental bow to the right. The ground floor sash windows are separated by panelled pilasters and topped with a pulvinated frieze. The first-floor window in the bow and the one above the entrance feature keystones and arcaded cornice hoods. The second-floor windows in the bow are flanked by engaged Ionic columns, while the third-floor windows are set within architrave surrounds with keystones.
A continuous stone balcony with a cast iron balustrade is present on the first floor. A dentil cornice runs above the second floor, continuing over the bow, and there are plat and sill bands on the third floor. The building is topped with a crowning dentil cornice and a balustraded parapet. Ornamental cast iron area railings enhance the exterior.
