Description

A mews building dating to approximately 1775-76, altered subsequently, by James Adam and associated with No. 19 Portland Place. The building is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed front facade on its east side, facing the rear of the Portland Place house; it has a slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a basement and dormered mansard roof. The mews front has been altered, featuring three windows, a brick toothed cornice, and a parapet. The east front is three windows wide. The ground floor is treated as an arcade with blind semicircular arches; the imposts of these arches are extended into a frieze decorated with fluting and rosettes. First-floor windows are set in wider recesses with recessed sash windows flanked by relief panels. The facade is finished with a cornice and parapet.
