Description
Nos 56 and 58 Marlborough Place are a pair of semidetached houses built around 1830. They are constructed of brick with some stucco dressings, and the roof is not visible. The houses rise 2 to 3 storeys and feature a balanced composition with 2 main bays and subsidiary outer bays that include entrances. The inner bays are three storeys high and are pilastered, while the outer bays are two storeys with gabled roofs. The windows have square gauged heads and are sashes with glazing bars. The gabled bays are also pilastered and feature slightly projecting rusticated stucco square-sided bay windows on the ground floor, which have cast iron balconies above. The upper windows are square headed and set in segmental reveals. The outer bays have altered entrances. A balustraded parapet crowns the central bays, and the gabled bays have overhanging eaves.
