Description
No. 12 Newburgh Street is a terrace house with a shop front, built around 1820. The building is constructed of stock brick with slightly later stucco and features a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall and is two windows wide. The ground floor is finished in stucco and includes a pilastered shop front with an entablature that has an egg and dart and bead and reel cornice. There are square-headed doorways for the house and shop to the right, both with fanlights, and a panelled house door; the display window has been altered. The upper floors feature recessed glazing bar sashes set within stucco architraves. A stucco plat band runs along the first floor, topped by a stucco crowning cornice. This building dates from the same period as the redevelopment of Carnaby Street around 1820.
