TQ 2880 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER SOUTH AUDLEY STREET, W1 79/40 Audley Square 9.1.70 No. 2 G.V. II Corner town house. c.1880 by T.H. Wyatt. Red brick and pink sandstone, tiled roof. Free Queen Anne and Flemish detailing. 3 storeys, basement and attic storey in gable end roof. 3 windows wide to square and one window return to South Audley Street. Central architraved doorway with blind lunette and console bracketed hood with balustrade over. Windows principally segmental arched in moulded brick surrounds with glazing bar sashes. Doric entablature over ground floor; frieze and crowning cornice surmounted by 3 brick dormers the centre one elaborated. The Doric entablature is returned to South Audley Street where it is supported by 2 inset columns and with bowed balcony over ground floor window. This elevation is surmounted by a shaped gable with an elliptical attic window; beyond to right is a 2 storeyed wing with similar details the upper part as roofed terrace-loggia. Ornate cast iron area railings. Group interest with Nos. 1 and 2 South Audley Street q.v.
