Description

No. 2 Audley Square is a corner town house built around 1880 by T.H. Wyatt. The building features red brick and pink sandstone with a tiled roof, showcasing Free Queen Anne and Flemish architectural styles. It stands three storeys tall, with a basement and an attic storey beneath a gable end roof. The façade facing the square has three windows, with an additional window on the return to South Audley Street.

The central doorway is framed with an architrave and topped with a blind lunette, supported by a console bracketed hood that has a balustrade above. The windows are mainly segmental arched, set in moulded brick surrounds, and feature glazing bar sashes. A Doric entablature runs over the ground floor, leading to a frieze and a crowning cornice that is topped by three brick dormers, the central one being more elaborately designed.

On the South Audley Street elevation, the Doric entablature is continued and supported by two inset columns, with a bowed balcony above the ground floor window. This elevation culminates in a shaped gable that includes an elliptical attic window. To the right, there is a two-storey wing that mirrors the main façade's details, with the upper part serving as a roofed terrace-loggia. The property is also adorned with ornate cast iron area railings and has group value with Nos. 1 and 2 South Audley Street.
