Description
The monument to Alexander Wyllie, dated 1741, is located in the south-west corner of St George's Gardens. It is made of buff-coloured sandstone. The headstone features an engraved inscription, with a bas relief showing a skull on the left and crossed bones on the right. Above this imagery is a ribband inscribed with the words 'memento mori'. The monument is likely of northern manufacture, transported to London by sea.
