Description

St George's Rectory is an early 18th-century building that has been altered. It is constructed of red brick, featuring partial brick bands and a parapet. The building has three storeys and a basement, with four windows and a blank projection, as well as three additional windows (some of which are blank) on the return side. The windows are sash style, recessed with glazing bars and topped with gauged flat arches. There is a wooden porch at the entrance. Inside, there is a simple staircase with shaped step ends, and some early and later 19th-century fireplaces remain.

The lantern tower of St George in the East church is a notable landmark in this area of Stepney. The church, along with its rectory, walls, gates, railing, and memorial, forms a cohesive group around St George's Gardens, which was the churchyard in the past.
