Description
St George's Gardens Raine Memorial is a memorial built in 1725 and later, made of white stone. It has a square base on a stepped plinth and is topped with a truncated spire. One side features a crested shield with a coat of arms, while another side displays a reclining figure with a book in high relief. The remaining two sides have memorial tablets.
The lantern tower of St George in the East is a notable landmark in this area of Stepney. The church, along with its rectory, walls, gates, railings, and this memorial, collectively form a group around St George's Gardens, which was once the churchyard.
