Description
The Ship Inn is an early 19th-century public house located at 17 Barnes Street. It is an end-of-terrace building constructed from stock brick, with the roof not visible. The structure features a coped parapet that rises over an angled corner, complemented by a brick and tile band below. The building stands two storeys high and has one window facing Barnes Street. A red and blue brick band runs along the first-floor sill height, and the windows are sash style with red brick dressings. Below the first floor, there is a cornice and fascia board, along with a green tiled facade on the ground floor. The side elevation includes a small bust set in a niche. The Ship Inn is part of a group that includes Nos 17 to 51 (odd) on Barnes Street, Nos 3 to 8 (consecutive) on Flamborough Street, and Nos 1 to 16 (consecutive) on York Square, all of which surround York Square.
