Description
The Central Foundation School for Girls is a Grade II listed building located at the corner of Spital Square, constructed in 1890 by architects T Chatfield Clarke and Son. This asymmetrical group of buildings features red brick with terra-cotta dressings and a slate roof, designed in the Flemish Renaissance style. The structure includes coped gables with ball finials, parapets, and large chimneys, standing three to four storeys high. The first-floor windows have arch-headed glazing, while other windows are large sashes or include mullions and transoms. No 37 and the Street Lamp Standard are part of the group that includes the buildings and walls of the Central Foundation School for Girls.
