Description

This is a terrace of early 19th century houses, with alterations made in the later 19th century, particularly to number 39 and with most of the windows replaced in the later 19th century. The houses are constructed of stock brick with stone coping, brick chimneystacks, and a roof mostly hidden from view, except for number 45, which has a slate mansard roof. The terrace is mainly three storeys and with a basement, although number 45 is of two storeys with an attic and basement. Each house typically has three windows, except for number 45 which has two. Most windows are without glazing bars, with the exception of numbers 37 and 39, which have six-pane sashes to the second floor and twelve-pane sashes to the first floor. Ground floor windows are round-headed and linked by impost blocks. Number 39 features a late 19th century four-light canted bay with a slate roof to the ground floor, and a late 19th century pedimented porch with a panelled door. Number 45 retains an original wide porch with partly fluted Doric columns. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to each house are walls and cast-iron railings to the front areas and street. The terrace forms a group with numbers 15, 17, and 21-33 (odd).
