Description

Numbers 23-29 and attached railings comprise a row of four early 19th-century houses. The houses are built of yellow brick, with brick parapets and a later slate mansard roof extension to number 23. Numbers 23, 27 and 29 are three storeys and have a basement, each with two bays. Number 25 is four storeys and also has a basement, with two bays. Each house has a round-arched doorway on the left side, leading to doors set in plain reveals, which have radial fanlights above (except at number 25, where the fanlight is plain). The doorways have moulded cornices above. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with flat, gauged-brick arches (except at number 25, which has stucco lintels with keystones). The interior has not been inspected. Cast-iron area railings, some with fleur-de-lys or urn finials, are attached to the front of the houses. The buildings form a group with numbers 15, 17, 21 and 31-45 (odd).
