Description

This is a group of eight houses, built as linked pairs around 1830. The houses are constructed of stucco and feature a low slate mansard roof hidden behind a cornice and blocking course, which rests on large Tuscan pilasters. These pilasters rise between the windows from a cornice above the banded ground floor. The houses are three storeys high with a basement and attic. Each house has three bays, with the two central bays slightly projecting, and a recessed entrance link of varying heights connecting them.

Most of the houses have square, distyle Doric porches with fluted columns and an entablature, though some have been filled in. The ground-floor sash windows are round-headed, set within round-arched recesses defined by voussoirs. Upper-floor windows are generally sash windows with glazing bars and moulded architraves; the first-floor windows are taller and have cornices. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Numbers 197 to 201 have cast-iron area railings.
