Description
The former garden walls of Number 25 Dartmouth Row are located along Wat Tyler Road. These walls date from the late 17th century to the early 18th century and are constructed of red brick. The first wall runs almost parallel to Wat Tyler Road and features a high, sloped coping and a pair of pilasters. It ramps up at the northern end to meet the second wall, which is a late 17th-century red brick wall with tapered buttresses that runs at right angles from west to east. At the eastern end of this wall, there is a stone-coped square pier made of stock brick, which has been partly rebuilt.
Additionally, running westward from near the southern end of the first wall is an early 18th-century tall wall made of multicoloured stock brick, also with high sloped coping. This wall ramps downwards at intervals to follow the slope of the hill towards Dartmouth Row and has been partly rebuilt at its western end. Near the western end, there is a pair of square gate piers.
