Description

Sherwell is a late 18th or early 19th century building, one of a pair with number 1 Dartmouth Grove (Lydia House). It was built in a style associated with Michael Searles. The building is of stucco construction and has three storeys, an attic, and a basement, set within a pedimented central block of two windows. A two-window north wing abuts the central block and has two storeys and a basement, under a half-pediment. The roof is slated, with dentil cornices and pediments. An oval window is set within the central pediment. The recessed sash windows have been replaced but retain glazing bars; reveals are plain. A shallow, three-window canted bay with a cornice and balustraded parapet is located at the ground floor centre, with blank windows on the axis. The entrance is on the return, but the main façade, as described, faces Heath.
