Description

Old Angle is an imposing house built in the third quarter of the 18th century, featuring alterations. It has five bays and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a sunk basement. There is a one and a half storey projecting extension on the right, which may have once served as a coach house, along with a two-storey blank addition that is slightly set back behind it. The left three bays comprise the original house, while the two right bays and extensions belong to No 30A.

The house has a slated mansard roof that extends to the right and features four square dormers with sash windows that have glazing bars. The exterior is made of brown brick with a stone-coped parapet and a stone cornice band. There is an open pediment above the slightly projecting central section, and brick quoins are present at the corners and angles. The recessed sash windows, which mostly have been replaced, are topped with gauged flat brick arches. The centre window on the first floor has an eared moulded architrave with a triple keystone.

The entrance features a reproduction six-panel door with a Gibbs surround, a moulded cornice head, and a plain fanlight, which also has a triple keystone. The right ground floor window has been replaced by a door with six fielded panels, set in a panelled reveal with a moulded architrave and a plain rectangular fanlight above. The front extension includes a lunette in the upper wall and one sash window, flanked by round windows on the return.
