Description

Nos. 32 and 34 Dartmouth Row are early to mid-18th century properties. No. 32 is a two-storey and attic house with a sunken basement, originally featuring four windows. It has a slated mansard roof with two square dormers, and replacement sash windows with glazing bars in near-flush moulded frames. The exterior is stuccoed with a parapet, and features bands at the cornice and first floor levels. The front door is of six fielded panels, with a rectangular fanlight and a flat, bracketed hood. No. 34 is an early 18th century tall house, with three storeys and a basement, originally featuring five windows. The roof comprises three parallel hipped ridges, almost concealed by a high parapet. It is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings, including gauged segmental window arches, jambs, and bands at the first and second floor levels; some upper brickwork has been renewed. Replacement sash windows with glazing bars are set within flush moulded frames. A projecting round bow with three sash windows under gauged brick arches was added in the early 19th century to the ground floor to the left. The early to mid-19th century six-panel front door has a rectangular fanlight with margin lights, set within a modified wooden entablature surround. Nos. 28 to 36A (even) form a group.
