Description

The building at 1-4 Talbot Place comprises two mid-19th century pairs of houses. Each house is two and a half storeys high with a basement, and features three windows. The construction utilizes multicoloured stock brick with stucco dressings. The roofs are hipped and slate-covered, with a low pitch and deep eaves featuring long, curved brackets that flank the sash windows. The first-floor sash windows have shouldered, moulded architraves and bracketed cornices, with the central window having a pediment. A continuous cill band, incorporating a Greek key pattern, connects with the frieze of the entablature on the entrance sections. Eared architraves are present, alongside a cill band with brackets flanking the panels below the ground-floor sash windows. The entrances are accessed through four-panel doors set within Doric doorcases, which include attached columns and a mutule cornice.
